Shelley Argent/PFLAG Brochure Launch at the Conference!

PFLAG is proud to announce that one of our projects for 2012 is a brochure for “Parents of Transgender” which is to be launched at this years Transgender Conference in Cairns. We are very proud of this brochure. It doesn’t claim to have all of the answers for parents looking for support and information. However, we do see it as a starting point.
We hope the brochure will make it easier for parents looking for answers by providing websites and other resources available to hasten a parent’s understanding so they can support their loved one.
The brochure briefly outlines feelings and fears many parents when have their son or daughter disclose they’re transgender. It also has a section on what the trans person wants family to know and understand about them during this time of change for them.
The brochure has been done in collaboration with some transgender groups and individual parents who have sons and daughters who are on the journey of transitioning.
PFLAG generally, believes that access to early information hastens understanding and we hope this brochure will be seen as a useful resource for those who are transitioning and their families.
