“On behalf of the Organising Committee for the Queensland Transgender, Sistergirl and Gender Diverse Conference I am proud to announce the first event of its type in Australia. Our aim is to have an exciting and educative two days that will provide a stimulating environment to learn more about the health issues that trans individuals deal with.
Our conference will attract clinicians – general practitioners, psychiatrists, other specialist doctors, psychologists, and nurses, among others – who work with the trans community, and will also attract transgender, sistergirl and gender diverse community members. The members of these communities are vital to the success of our conference and we hope to build a bridge between clinicians and clients and to learn from the skills and experiences of all who attend. The program promises to be exciting and stimulating with sessions delivered by experts in the new field of transgender medicine and by those who live as members of this vibrant, diverse and growing community.
Cairns is an ideal location for this innovative conference, situated in Far North Queensland with the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Rainforest on our doorstep, and providing an inclusive and tolerant tropical welcome – the weather in August is guaranteed to be warm and welcoming! Our conference is also timed to coincide with Cairns Tropical Pride, so feel free to participate in the varied activities that will be occurring then.
I welcome you all to Cairns and wish you all a wonderful conference!”
